Pixel Tablet Research Process
Pixel Tablet, Pixel Tablet Charging Speaker Dock, and Pixel Tablet Case
A look into the research and development process for the Pixel Tablet.
The Pixel Tablet began with the foundational research insight that tablets are being left in drawers, not charged and not useful. After years of development, on June 2023, Google’s three tablet devices hit store shelves.
From the initial insight to today, research has been at the forefront of these devices. And throughout the lifetime of the Pixel Tablet, I have led all UX Research for the product portfolio, including:
Foundational Research which identified the problem and spawned the goal: Create a tablet that is Always Useful and designed for where people use their tablet the most, the home.
Tactical Research that identified solutions for pivotal emergent manufacturing and experience issues.
Human Factors Research to develop and patented a best-in-class magnet array for seamless interaction between tablet and dock.
Accessibility Research to ensure the devices were useful to all users.
Aesthetics Research to hone the perfect colors, materials, and finish.
Post-Launch Research, to identify our progress towards our goals and identify future opportunities.
